What Research is Relevant to Recovery Education?
Recovery in mental health has been reviewed, studied and explored by researchers for many years. Although mental health recovery is a highly personal journey and every individual will have their own definition of mental health recovery, researchers have spent countless hours and resources in gathering information and creating knowledge about this important subject. Research from all around the world explores subjects like recovery education, stigma reduction efforts, youth mental health and so much more.

Below is a list of just some of the guiding publications and research that has informed our practice at Discovery College West. Because Discovery College West is the first of it's kind in the Republic of Ireland, we take great care in learning how we can adapt recovery education principals to fit the specific needs of the communities and young people that we serve. Staying up to date on relevant research around mental health recovery and education is just as much a part of our jobs as providing workshops and hosting co productions.
We also understand and acknowledge the gaps that might exist in current research as well as the limitations that research studies might have in capturing the complexities of such personal mental health journeys. Despite these limitations, Discovery College West believes in the importance of research to inform our practice and offer opportunities for us to reflect on our work. That is also why we rely on on the National Framework for Recovery in Mental Health and other published guidance documents to provide continuity and ensure we are working in sync with other mental health services to promote mental health recovery through our education efforts.
